Season 4 of the Table Top Simulator League is here! And…the numbers are in! The Strike Better Team has analysed the data from the public release of the 168 lists from across all regions to give you a snapshot of the current Marvel: Crisis Protocol Meta. Let’s get into it.
The Regions:
The player base has selected 4 different time zones, which have all shown some good participation:
1. East (GMT and CET timezones): 58 Players
2. Central (CST and EST timezones): 57 Players
3. Oceania (AEST time zone): 29 Players
4. West (PST and CST timezones): 24 Players
The Affiliations:
1. Asgard: 38 – 22%
2. Brotherhood of Mutants: 30 – 18%
3. Defenders: 27 – 16%
4. Criminal Syndicate: 25 – 15%
5. Web Warriors and Wakanda: 24 – 14%
6. Uncanny X-Men and A-Force: 21 – 12%
7. Avengers: 15 – 9%
8. Guardians of the Galaxy: 14 – 8%
9. Cabal: 13 – 8%
10. Black Order: 7 – 4%
11. Spider Foes: 6 – 3%
1. Double Affiliation: 79 – 47%
2. Single Affiliation: 78 – 46%
3. Triple Affiliation: 8 – 5%
4. Quad Affiliaiton: 1 – 1%
Despite Morgan Reid taking Black Order to the Top Table last season, they have only appeared in 7 rosters. The new characters available to the Asgard affiliation could be the reason for their top tier status in the data, with the new shiny stuff in Brotherhood of Mutants, and X-Men and A-Force getting good representation at 17.86% and equal 12.5% respectively. Dual affiliation seems to be the preferred option for players this year, although only just. Recent seasons have shown focussing on one affiliation to enable flexibility in strengthening your squad has proven quite effective.

66. Black Widow Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, 2 – 1%
67. Ultron, 2 – 1%
Valkyrie and Okoye are clearly in a league of their own. The players in this season obviously see the value they provide for their point cost, and their rankings show that they are valuable pieces in any affiliation. Angela and Enchantress are a very popular addition to the game, which reflects the affiliation rankings well. It will be interesting to see if their numbers are the same at the 3 week roster change point. Looking at the bottom, I am surprised to see Black Widow Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D so low. Perhaps placing Doomed Prophecy on the restricted list has resulted in this poor showing. Other usual suspects of Iron Man and Winter Soldier down there in the salt mines, with Ebony Maw not appreciated either. With the other 5 threat characters in the game, it’s hard to argue the data.
The Crises
Extracts:
1. Fear Grips World As “Worthy” Terrorize Cities, 98 – 58%

Turns out people like throwing more dice than normal with “Hammers” being top dog in the Extracts. The slow playing Skrulls and Wakandan Herbs proving that players prefer a faster game. The numbers also show that players like to be close on those E Shape secures, with Gamma and Demons Downtown represented well. Wide crises and the new Mayor Fisk proving to be the least popular secures.

Big take away from the Tactics Card selection is that Medpack is apparently really good…didn’t see that coming…Hired Muscle is a card that we have spoken about before that can lead to some negative play experiences. It will be interesting to see if Hired Muscle is being brought for legitimate play, or as a safety net and counter if it’s in an opponent’s roster. Time will tell. Finally, the Pentagrams are out in force with the potential for devastating round 1 plays. Be on the lookout if this is in your opponents 8 and be sure to posture your characters accordingly.
